About the Instructor

I’m Dave Wilson, an award-winning writer with over fifteen years of experience teaching creative writing at universities, literary festivals, and in independent workshops. My own writing has been published internationally and translated into multiple languages and been shortlisted and won dozens of awards at home and abroad. I bring that commitment to the workshop space, encouraging rigour, collegiality, and a generous dash of humour. I believe in looking hard at the writing while taking it easy on ourselves. I’ve been doing this a long time. It works.

Practical Info

  • Workshops run 9 weeks, meeting once a week in the evening, breaking for a week after the fourth session.

  • Cost: $250 + applicable tax

  • Location: varies by session

  • Participants should have a short story of no more than 3500 words ready one week before workshops start.

  • Each participant will write 2 stories

  • Each participant will read and edit a total of 14 of their peers’ stories
